Online seminar "Will the new federal government abolish the LkSG?"

Online seminar:
"Will the new federal government abolish the LkSG?"

There has long been speculation: What will the new federal government do with the LkSG?

Now the CDU, CSU and SPD have agreed on the coalition agreement on April 9, 2025.

It explicitly states that the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG) will be abolished.

However, this is only half the truth, as the LkSG is not actually to be abolished, but replaced. It is to be replaced by a law that implements the European Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) in Germany. It remains to be seen when this law will come into force.

This means that the LkSG will continue to apply for the time being - but there will be modifications: The reporting obligations are to be abolished immediately and sanctions will only be imposed for serious human rights violations.

The seminar is intended to help you understand what the announced modifications (could) look like in concrete terms and what they mean for your company.

In detail:

  • What human rights due diligence obligations does your company have to
need to consider in the short and medium term?
  • What sanction risks still exist?
  • What applies to SMEs that are indirectly affected by the LkSG as suppliers or business partners?
  • What does this mean for your company's ESG strategy, taking into account the various European laws and projects (Green Industrial Deal, Omnibus Package, etc.)?

The seminar offers a top-level overview and is aimed specifically at entrepreneurs, decision-makers, sustainability and human rights officers from every industry, with a focus on the food industry.
